If the BC Liberal government is banking on the new budget for a boost in the May election, a new Ipsos Reid polls suggests voters aren't convinced.
Asked if they believe the budget will eventually be balanced, a paltry 12 per cent said yes, while 72 per cent said no way.
There is broad support for a hike in personal and corporate taxes: 84 per cent and 78 per cent respectively.
However, only a third approves of selling off provincial assets, and just a quarter gave the thumbs up to increasing MSP premiums.
Ipsos spokesperson Kyle Braid says this shows there is no “magic bullet” in the budget for the Liberals.
"It doesn't seem like it is going to do a lot for the provincial government in terms of (the) vote immediately. Only 13 per cent of people said that this budget makes them more likely to vote for Christy Clark and the BC liberals."
The poll also asked if the NDP would do better: 40 per cent said the party would do worse.
