An avalanche has claimed the life of a backcountry skier in Revelstoke.
Officials say it happened in the Greely Lake area, on the north side of Mount MacKenzie, in an area out of bounds for the nearby resort.
Three skiers in a group of six were buried.
Police say two were rescued unhurt, but the third man did not survive.
Crews expect to recover his body tomorrow.
