A Richmond RCMP officer convicted of assault was disciplined by his employers before he was spared jail time by a provincial court judge.
Last summer, Constable Inderpal Bal was charged with assault causing bodily harm stemming from the excessive force he used to arrest a man in January of last year.
His conduct was questioned by other officers at the scene and the victim needed hospital care.
Following an investigation by Surrey RCMP, he was found guilty of the lesser charge of assault.
In January, Pal was sentenced to six months probation and ordered to pay a victim surcharge.
An RCMP disciplinary hearing held more than three months earlier in september determined the only punishment he deserved was the loss of five days pay.
