A review will be done after a man accused of attacking multiple people in Vancouver’s West End in January hurt himself at Surrey's North Fraser Pre-Trial Centre Friday morning.
Thirty-three year old Jerome Bonneric threw himself over a third floor railing.
His lawyer says Bonneric has suffered injuries to his collar bone, hip, and head.
"When there is a serious injury sustained, we do conduct what's called a critical incident review, to examine the circumstances, so that if any changes need to be made, we can make those changes,” says Marnie Mayhew with BC Corrections.
Mayhew was asked how someone with mental health issues has access to a third floor railing.
She says, speaking generally, when someone is taken into custody, they go through an assessment and are classified to a certain living unit based on that assessment.
They have freedom of movement within the unit.
