It looks like chances are improving for Vancouver hosting a New Years' celebration again.
NPA Vancouver Councilor George Affleck is pushing Council to revisit the idea saying it's time for an event allowing people to ring in the New Year downtown.
Mayor Gregor Robertson was asked if the city will move on the idea, "Well, we have actually been working on getting a big New Years' Eve event for a number of years. It has been a challenge to organize all the different components of that but we would love to see it. It ultimately needs to be driven by the community and good sponsorship and hopefully all those pieces can come together and hopefully it is this next New years.'"
Through the years Vancouver has hosted some on-again, off-again New Years' events around the city.
The Province also hosts a family friendly event downtown but it shuts down before midnight.
