Here's how it works: the con artist places ads online, posing as the home's owner.
Would-be renters sign agreements and hand over damage deposits and their first month's rent.
Then the alleged-landlord disappears with their cash and the tenants arrive to find a locked door.
34-year old Michael Erastus Burley of Ontario is charged with four counts of fraud.
Police say anyone who knows where he is should call 9-1-1.
