The Translink board of directors has received an update on the Compass Card program.
Translink's Bob Paddon says the electronic fare card and fare gate system will be rolled out in stages, beginning with a test phase in the fall.
"Actual time when we're going to lock everything down and be fully operational? I don't want to pick a date yet. We want to get through each phase of these projects and make sure they're working right."
He admits the project has encountered some delays: “The technology, on how it's going to read on the buses – there's been some issues with that.”
Paddon adds the supplier is footing the bill for those issues.
