Surrey's Mayor says she'll keep pushing the province to build new schools in her city.

Watts says when it comes to post-secondary education, additional capacity needs to be a top priority for the provincial government.

In her State of the City address, Watts said Surrey has 13 spaces for every 100 students.

She says every other BC community has 49 spaces for every 100.

"Simon Fraser University Surrey needs 25-hundred spaces to fulfill a memorandum of understanding that was signed by the province in 2006."

Watts has announced a campus of "learning, active living and sports excellence" for the Grandview Heights neighbourhood.

It will include a new secondary school, an aquatic centre and a campus of support services.
