The Times of India Film Awards nailed down a title sponsor just days before the first ever Indian awards gala kicks off. But, the sponsor may come with baggage. Lux Cozi, an underwear company, is owned by Ashok Todi who is facing a charge in relation to the death of his daughter's husband.
CKNW investigative reporter Bob Mackin says Todi's daughter married Rizwanur Rahman in secret.
"They married August 18th, 2007. Priyanka came from a rich family, Rahman did not come from a rich family. They told a local police station about their marriage. Mysteriously, Rizwanur Rahman's body was found on railway tracks on September 21st, 2007 and that started a murder mystery in that area of India."
Todi and his brother and five other were charged with abetting suicide.
The death has caused controversy, a riot, and a special investigation.
