As Translink prepares to launch its new Compass Card in a few months, it has started shedding some old agreements which allowed some companies to ride for free.
They are called legacy agreements, and some were set up before Translink was even created.
Bob Paddon of Translink says it allowed some people to ride the system for free.
He says they began to review the legacy agreement when they were preparing for the Compass Card and realized they should stop some of these deals.
But he says, so far, there are no hard feelings when they let companies know the free ride is over.
Paddon says there were about 40 legacy agreements in place before the review, and he does not know how many will remain once the review is complete.
Among those losing free ride privileges are employees of the federal Department of Fisheries and Oceans.
