Even with the rain, many came out to honour the Battle of Vimy Ridge at a ceremony in Vancouver's Victory Square.
Organizer Cam Cathcart considered it a success.
"I’m so happy that so many Vancouverites came out in spite of the inclement weather. But that's what it was like on the 9th of April 1917. Not only was it raining but it was snowing and there was sleet. It was a bad day," says Cathcart.
Historians say that the World War One battle was a turning point in Canadian history.
