Crown lawyers are arguing for a daycare operator to spend two to three years behind bars for causing the of a one-year-old boy in 2011.
Maria McFerran pleaded guilty last fall in the toddler's death at her unlicensed daycare at her home.
Court has heard the boy was left unattended in a car seat and was strangled by one of the straps.
