A new program at Vancouver International Airport will make getting through customs a whole lot faster.
Instead of filling out a declaration card and waiting in line to answer a border agent's questions, travellers heading to the States will be able to scan passports at an automated kiosk.
YVR's Kevin Malloy says it's much more efficient.
"Typically, a passenger will spend a minute to a minute and a half with an officer and the officers are a very limited resource. There is not a bunch more being hired, so that causes some line-ups."
Right now only U-S passport holders can use the kiosks.
Canadian passport holders will have the same access in the next few weeks.
Vancouver Airport authority pioneered the technology and is selling it to other airports in Canada and the U-S.
