The City of Coquitlam is closing the Coquitlam River Park in response to repeated cougar sightings and interactions with homes in the area.
The cougar in question shows no fear of people. It's entered yards in the area so home owners are asked to keep their pets indoors. Above all, don't leave food scraps or pet food outdoors.
Residents are asked to stay away from the Coquitlam River Park and trails, as well as be cautious in all areas surrounding the Coquitlam River.
Conservation Officers are attempting to trap the animal and move it to a new location. Anyone sighting a cougar in that area should call police or the conservation service.
