The B-C Government has formally rejected the Northern Gateway Pipeline proposal.
In a statement issued at 10am, Environment Minister Terry Lake says B-C has made its final written submission to the National Energy Board's Joint Review Panel, and his governemnt cannot support the project as presented because it does not address bc's environmental concerns.
Says the minister, "Our questions were not satisfactorily answered during these hearings" and he's urging the panel not to grant a certifacte for the pipeline proposal.
Ben West with the "Wilderness Committee" says the ball's now in the Prime Minister's court.
He says, "We're still part of a joint-review process, but now I think this sends a very clear signal that this is something that British Columbia does not."
