The new ministers of health, education, and transportation all have a lot on their plate, according to a number of groups that want to meet with them.
Richard Walton, chair of the mayors’ council on transportation, says he’s not worried the new transportation minister, Todd Stone, might not understand the Lower Mainland’s transit issues because he hails from Kamloops.
"In these days the quality of the communications we have, it really doesn't matter where you are."
The mayors have been fighting with the province for some time on how to fund transit expansion.
Bonnie Pearson, spokesperson for the Hospital Employees Union, wants to talk staffing levels with Terry Lake.
"The delivery of health services requires a full team of people to do that."
Susan Lambert, the outgoing president of the B.C.’s teachers union, says Education Minister Peter Fassbender has to be ready to invest in education.
"It is a challenging portfolio for anyone of course because of the conditions in public schools today."
The premier has promised a summer session at the legislature to hammer out a 10-year collective agreement with teachers.
