The B.C. Wildlife Federation is bringing attention to a rusting bridge in White Rock used to transport chlorine gas by rail.
Larri Woodrow, a director for the Lower Mainland region of the B.C. Wildlife Federation, says the bridge over Little Campbell River is in disrepair and not fit for transporting dangerous chemicals such as chlorine gas.
"The bridge is in such a sad state that it could collapse at any time in my opinion,” said Woodrow. “But I'm not an expert. I would just like to see an engineer’s report on that bridge."
Woodrow says the federation has received assurances from the government that the bridge will be replaced or repaired by September, but he worries an accident could happen at any time.
