The Canada Day long weekend is over and, for the most part, so is the extreme hot weather.
Meteorologist Mark Madryga says the forecast will moderate slightly.
"It's still going to be very hot in the B.C. Interior the next couple of days but down a little bit, a little fresher breeze off the ocean."
Over the weekend, several records for high temperatures were broken in the southern interior as well as on the south coast, such as
“Abbotsford got up to just under 30, breaking old record of 29,” Madryga says. “Up in whistler, it got to 35 degrees breaking the old record of 31. …
“The hot spots in the nation: Get this – 40.3 in Lytton and an unofficial report but fairly reliable, 41 in Spences Bridge, 105 Fahrenheit."
