Abbotsford police thought they had seen it all, until a man took advantage of this years gun amnesty program to turn in a missile.
Constable Ian MacDonald says it is a first.
"2011 we actually received a rocket launcher so we were prepared for just about everything, or so we thought, until last Friday when a gentleman phoned us and told us that he had a five foot long missile, military grade."
MacDonald says the missile had been sitting in the home for a decade.
"He came to possess as a result of a relative of his at one time being deployed in various parts of the world in the military and believe it or not brought the missile back as a souvenir."
MacDonald says when officers showed up the missile was sitting on top of an old lawn chair.
"The home owner tried to allay some of our fears by saying he had actually dropped it several times so he felt somewhat confident that it wasn't still live but our officers didn't take any chances."
MacDonald says they called in the military who carefully removed the missile.
