The latest child poverty report card issued by "First Call BC" shows an increase in the number of poor children in this province.

The advocacy group says BC's child poverty rate is 11-point-three per cent -- a tie with manitoba for worst in the country.

The finding is based on 2011 data from Statistics Canada.

A single parent with one child was considered low income at 23-thousand, 498-dollars per year.

"First Call" wants the BC government to implement a 10-dollar a day child care plan, something the Premier has said won't happen.
