Over a thousand Canadian and international community planners are gathered in Vancouver to discuss and debate community planning.
Director of Policy and Public Affairs at the Canadian Institute of Planners, Andrew Sacret, says many issues are up for discussion, including a debate over whether or not those in high-risk zones should be forcibly moved for their own safety.
"I'd say that's a divisive issue. There are folks out there who are more libertarian in nature who say people should be allowed to live wherever they want, and others that want to take stronger action to prevent loss of life and loss of property."
Issues of sustainability, preparation for dealing with climate change and First Nations engagement are also on the agenda.
The Infuse 2013 Conference runs from Saturday until Tuesday.
