Police are issuing a warning after a 19-year-old Keremeos man drowned while rafting with friends on Saturday afternoon.
His death brings the number of accidental drownings this summer to 43 -- more than double last year's total amount.
The man died after falling into the Similkameen River and getting pulled under by the current.
Another young man died in Thetis Lake just outside Victoria the same afternoon.
This summer has been one of B.C.'s deadliest, with more than 40 accidental drownings. That's twice as many as last year's total.
Police say everyone needs to understand the risks, and be extra careful, when heading into the water.
