A man found not criminally responsible for the murder of his father in North Vancouver has been granted limited access to the community, but he must continue living in the confines of a psychiatric hospital.
Jordan Ramsay is a schizophrenic who killed his father in November 2011 after being advised to replace medication for his mental illness with vitamins.
The 29-year old has been kept under strict custody at Port Coquitlam's Colony Farm since July of last year.
This week, a Psychiatric Review Board determined he still needs supervision, but he may be allowed to leave the hospital on escorted visits.
Ramsay is still banned from going anywhere near firearms, explosives or other weapons considered offensive.
His next review hearing will be in one year.
