The provincial government has no plans to expand or raise the carbon tax, even though a new report shows the levy is working.
Environment Minister Mary Polak says the government will stick to its pledge to freeze the carbon tax for the next five years.
"This is a time to take a look around the world, a look around North America, encourage others to adopt a more aggressive carbon pricing regime along the lines that we have, then we'll be able to look at our current situation and see if we need to expand it."
The report by "Sustainable Prosperity" says fuel consumption in BC has fallen by 17 per-cent since the carbon tax was imposed in 2008.
