The Surrey Mountie killed in a crash with a semi-trailer truck early this morning has been identified as 28-year-old Constable Adrian Oliver.
Officers and civilians at Surrey detachment are crying, hugging, and wearing blue ribbons, to remember Oliver.
Deputy Commissioner Craig Callens says he came from a family of mounties, who are now flying in from ottawa to deal with his death.
"He showcased all the skills, dedication, and commitment that we expect of our members. He was a valued member here at Surrey detachment."
Police say Oliver was heading west on 64th Avenue this morning on the way back to the detachment at the end of his shift when his unmarked police cruiser collided with a semi-truck coming the other way at 148th Street.
The truck driver was not hurt.
No charges are being considered.
