Translink is dealing with another controversy, this time over missing permits in the installation of the new fare gates.
Inspectors in Surrey have discovered a contractor hired by Translink was missing the required Canadian Standards Association certification
NDP Translink critic Harry Bains says it is another embarassment, and he hopes the problem isn't more widespread, "I am not sure but i think, you know, whether it is in Surrey, Vancouver, Burnaby, anywhere along the line, it is a serious problem. I hope that Translink will take it seriously and learn something from it. I think the Minister needs to be on the phone to Translink. It does damage the confidence of riders in our system."
Bains says he hopes it is just a paperwork issue and not something that will add more cost to the huge tab to install the faregates.
