Despite ongoing opposition from First Nations leaders and the New Democrats, the B.C. goverment has created a new resort municipality at the site of a controversial new ski development.
The master plan for the Jumbo Glacier resort was approved in March, following a 20-year review process.
The minister responsible, Bill Bennett, is defending the $450-million project, west of Invermere, saying it is vital to the region's economy.
He denies today's decision was rushed in anticipation of May's election.
