Two men are dead after a bullets flew inside the lobby of a Burnaby hotel just before the noon hour.
Sergeant Jennifer Pound with the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team says two men were found with gunshot wounds when police responded around 11:30 this morning.
"All attempts to revive those two males inside the hotel were unsuccessful and those males were pronounced deceased at the scene we have a tentative ID on them. I can tell you that one is caucasian the other one is an Indo-Canadian male and we are going to be looking to locate family and determine just what happened here."
Pound says the belief at this point is a suspect or suspects fled the scene after the shooting.
"It appears that somebody else had left the scene these two were inside the hotel it appears that they were the victims of an apparent targeted attack."
When asked if the shooting is gang related, Pound said "Still looking into that all I can say at this point is that is appears to be targeted so a lot of those answers are going to come from the scene, investigating the scene today, and we won't have a lot of those answers for you just yet."
Pound says hotel staff are all safe after the daytime shooting in the lobby.
"Miraculously there was nobody else hurt in this shooting. it is brazen it's cold and we have many many investigators on scene looking into this."
Pound says they are canvassing the scene for evidence including going to room to room at the hotel.
