Days ahead of its full opening, the new Port Mann Bridge saw commuters gridlocked in both directions during last night’s rush hour.
Project spokesman Max Logan says the congestion will ease once the bridge opens its full eight lanes by midday Dec. 1.
Along with an accident in one direction last night, Logan adds construction caused some of the delays.
"We have been doing some final lane markings and line painting, and I think that did contribute to some of the delays that drivers experienced eastbound last night. That work will be finished as of December. We will still be working west of Brunette, but we are very much expecting terrific travel time savings come Saturday, December 1."
Tolls will kick in a week later.
