After various health worker unions kicked up a fuss over the new mandatory flu shot policy there has been a compromise reached.
Fraser Health Spokesperson Roy Thorpe-Dorward was asked what happens now if health care worker refuses to get a flu shot.
"However in the first year of this new policy we are not going to be disciplining employees who come to work without the flu shot or the mask instead we will be pursuing an education and awareness approach over the next year to issues that might be ongoing."
The BC Nurses Union filed a grievance over the policy a couple of weeks ago and then alleged a conflict of interest.
The policy required nurses and other health care workers to get the flu shot or be forced to wear a mask while on the job.
