BC Transportation Minister Mary Polak will meet with the Mayor’s Council for Translink this week to tackle the thorny issue of transit funding shortfalls.
The council is seeking long-term funding to help deal with a multimillion dollar budget shortfall without raising taxes.
Langley Mayor and Vice Chair of the Council Peter Fassbender says he wants a pre-election action plan from the minister.
Fassbender says there is a deadline hanging over the meeting thanks to a motion at the last meeting.
"Mayor Robertson in putting his motion forward put some dates in there because he wanted to indicate significant pressure for us to work right away. But we have got to keep the pressure on to keep moving ahead and that pressure has to equally be on the Mayors as it does on the Province of British Columbia."
Mayors have given the Province until the end of February to work with them on a transit funding solution.
