A Vancouver Park Board Commissioner wants to hear from people about recent cuts to the hours at community centres.
The NPA's Melissa De Genova plans to table a motion next week that would see a public meeting held about how the reduced service has affected residents.
She says it's a chance for the public to speak out before the Board finalizes its 2013 Operating Budget, in which the cuts continue, "Our community centres are the heart of our neighbourhoods and the recent closures of these centres affect the most vulnerable citizens, including youth at risk, seniors, families living on low incomes and immigrants who count on community centres daily for recreation and programming to connect them with their communities."
De Genova says 900 staff hours have been slashed from most of the city's 23 community centres this year.
