Vancouver Police are again pleading with drivers and pedestrians to be careful, after recording 19 traffic fatalities so far this year.
Inspector Les Yeo says 11 of those victims were pedestrians.
"In the last five weeks alone, five pedestrians have been killed. I've directed my officers to enhance enforcement around drivers and pedestrians at intersections and crosswalks."
Nilo Tumanda, the husband of a 43 year old mother killed by a hit and run driver earlier this week, attended this morning's news conference at VPD headquarters.
"Yesterday, I told my five year old daughter that her mommy was never coming home. It was the hardest thing that I ever had to do. She still doesn't really understand. My family and I are devastated."
Police are not saying if they've already made progress tracking down the person responsible for Leonida Tumanda's death, but Yeo says several investigators are on the case.
