A new poll suggests British Columbians are more opposed to the Northern Enbridge pipeline project than ever before.

Enbridge might have spent millions on ads, including one that omitted a 1,000 square kilometres worth of islands in Douglas Channel, but a poll conducted by Forum Research indicates 60 percent in this province now oppose the pipeline.

"If I was Enbridge I'd be wanting my money back for my $5-million advertising campaign,” Gitga'at First Nation spokesperson Andrew Frank told CKNW Tuesday evening.

The Gitga'at commissioned the poll , in which 58 percent said the inaccurate map worsened their opinion of the proposed project.

Even those in the centre and right on the political spectrum seem to have been affected by that ad.

"In April, 67 percent of BC Liberals supported the project,” Frank said. “Today, only 46 percent do. In terms of Conservative support, in April, 57 percent of Conservatives were in favour of the pipeline, and now 39 percent are in favour."
