BC’s Coroner says an inquest into the death of CJ Morningstar Fowler isn't out of the question at the Provincial level, but police will have to wrap up their investigation before it will even be considered.
This after First Nations leaders called for a national inquiry into Fowler's death, citing more must be done to help the country's Indigenous people.
Barbara McClintock says they don't want to harm any criminal proceedings by getting involved at this point, but, "once the criminal proceedings are dealt with one way or another, then [First Nations Leaders] should be ready to point out why an inquest would be valuable in this case."
Fowler's body was found near a popular walking path in Kamloops December 5th.
Police say the troubled teen had been visiting from Terrace.
