The Mayor of Tumbler Ridge is welcoming a Federal Court decision dismissing two unions' efforts to keep sixty Chinese miners from arriving in the province to start work at a Northern BC mine.

Darwin Wren says he's pleased HD Mining will be continuing work with a new underground mine in his community, saying there are a lot of local people working on the project, so he's glad they'll be able to keep their jobs.

"I think that there's going to be a lot of discussions moving forward, I think that all the parties involved will communicate with each other, and we'll find a way that the project can move forward that's a benefit to everybody."

Wren says the project means probably the largest investment in the community since tumbler ridge was built.

The two unions applied for an injunction citing concerns jobs that could possibly be done by Canadians are going to go to foreigners.
