Burnaby RCMP say a pedestrian crossing the street between intersections has died after getting hit by a car at the corner of North Road and Lougheed Highway Friday evening.
Staff Sgt. Steve Crawford says excessive speed and alchohol are not believed to be factors.
"Initial indications are, he was believed to be crossing the intersection and was wearing dark clothing which was a contributing factor given the dark rainy night. The driver involved remained at the scene. I understand he's being co-operative as he's able to."
The man, believed to be in his mid sixties, was taken to Royal Columbian Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
