Burnaby RCMP had its hands full Friday night, dealing with a range of incidents involving a pedestrian fatality, a shooting and a pair of attempted sexual assaults.

Staff Sergeant Steve Crawford has been a cop for over two decades.

But he hasn't seen a night quite like this.

It started with an apparent jaywalker in his sixties dying after being hit by a vehicle around 5 o'clock.

This, in addition to a pair of other pedestrians struck in separate minor collisions around the same time -- those people were okay.

Then, around 11:15, police believe a man in one vehicle shot at another vehicle -- nobody was hurt, but the suspect made a getaway on foot.

The night continued on with a pair of separate attempted sexual assaults by a man described as 5-foot-8 and wearing a white hoody, with glasses and a beard. One of the attempted assaults happened around Kingsway and Waltham, with the other taking place near Dufferin Avenue.

Police believe he may have been injured after one of his victims fought back.

"In my memory of 23 years of service, this is the busiest night I’ve ever worked,” said Crawford. “We've had to call in the assistance of Vancouver Police Department and Coquitlam RCMP on two occasions to assist us with our files."

Crawford is asking members of the public with information involving any of these incidents to contact Burnaby RCMP.
