A train has derailed south of Pemberton with one car lying on Highway 99.
CN Rail spokesperson Emily Hamer says it happened around one this afternoon.
“Three CN cars derailed just south of Pemberton on a rail bridge spanning Highway 99. Two cars are upright on the bridge or embankment and one car is on its side on the highway below. The cars are empty wood pallet hoppers, and there were no injuries and no environmental issues."
Hamer says a full investigation will be launched to look into why the cars jumped the tracks.
No one was injured, but one car was hit by flying debris and received minor damage.
The highway was closed for a time, but has been re-opened to one lane of alternating traffic.
Police say they won’t be able to clear the cars until at least tomorrow morning.
