A Richmond RCMP officer --charged with assault causing bodily harm last summer-- won't face any jail time after being found guilty of a lesser charge.
Inderpal Bal's conduct was questioned by other officers at the scene of an arrest made in January of last year after which the victim needed hospital care.
A formal charge was laid in July after Surrey RCMP took over the investigation.
A provincial court judge in Pichmond has now found him guilty of the lesser charge of assault.
Bal's been handed a suspended sentence, he must serve six months probation and he's been ordered to pay a victim surcharge.
No word yet on whether he's facing any disciplinary action following an internal code of conduct review.
