More tinkering with BC's liquor laws by the Liberal government today.
Minister responsible Rich Coleman says so-called "tied houses" will now be allowed, meaning owners of micro-breweries or wineries can sell their product in restaurants or pubs they might own.
Coleman says those rules were lifted briefly during the 2010 Winter Olympics.
"We found that it worked really well, we worked with the industry the last little while so we're actually gonna allow small and medium wineries and breweries to basically have an off-site restaurant or pub relationship. We'll start out by allowing up to three of those per owner and we'll see how it goes because we're breaking new ground here in north america because pretty much every jurisdiction has a rule against tied houses."
Other changes include allowing brewers and distillers to have an on-site lounge or tasting area.
