BC Jobs Minister Pat Bell says the discovery of a relatively rare type of aneurism has led to his decision to not run for re-election.
Bell says the size of the aneurism is now being monitored -- if it grows, he'll have to undergo surgery.
He says he needs to turn his mind to his health, and that would take his attention away from responsibilities as an MLA.
Bell will continue in cabinet until the election.
Premier Christy Clark says her government has been lucky to have Bell in caucus and around the cabinet table.
She says he "epitomizes what an MLA can accomplish, with an open door policy to quietly help those in need and being a strong voice for his community."
