The continued court delays for the three men facing charges in the Surrey Six killings is not going over well with the city's council.
Councillor Barinder Rasode says it has been six years and counting for grieving families who are waiting for justice.
"Absolutely unacceptable for both the families of the victims and for the witnesses whose lives have abslutely been disrupted through this process."
Rasode says the delays increase the chance of the trials being thrown out.
"I think not only do we risk a miscarriage of justice due to lengthly processes and witness testimony but also honestly a heartfelt sadness for me for the families of the victims."
Rasode says the issue will be top of mind in the pending provincial election.
"As we move forward into a provincial election I think it is something that is top of mind for residents of this province. Court reform at a number of levels needs to be reformed but definitely in terms of more serious crimes."
The trials of Cody Haevischer, Matthew Johnston, and Michael Le were supposed to start in May but won't get going until mid-September.
