The owners of a hotel in Vancouver's downtown eastside are under investigation for violating safety standards.
In the middle of the night last Wednesday, emergency crews were called to the eight storey Regent Hotel at 160 East Hastings where a worker was dangling nearly 70-feet above the ground.
The man quickly rescued by firefighters was not hurt, but Worksafe BC was alerted because repairs were being done outside the building at 2 am.
While that's still under investigation, an inspector who visited the site Thursday quickly determined the scaffolding used was missing guardrails at both ends and wasn't properly installed.
The owner of the hotel, Triville Enterprises, has been barred from using that equipment until it is deemed safe by the inspector.
