A man who murdered his estranged girlfriend in Vancouver, then spent more than 12 years as a fugitive before his arrest in California, will have to wait two weeks to learn his fate.
Ninderjit Singh is hoping a BC Supreme Court judge will let him seek parole after serving ten years of his life sentence.
He's pleaded guilty to second degree murder in the 1999 shooting of Poonam Randhawa, two days after her 18th birthday.
Prosecutors say the 35 year old should spend at least 17 years in prison before being allowed to seek any freedom.
His lawyer has argued his client already faces immediate deportation to India once he's granted parole.
At the end of his hearing, Singh begged the judge for leniency, saying, 'I'm so sorry, but I can't bring it back. I'm so sorry from the bottom of my heart, so please give me a chance.'
The judge has reserved his decision until April 10th.
