Auditor General John Doyle's latest report finds the BC government made the right decision in opting for a Skytrain extension for the $1.4-billion Evergreen line, even though it did not have all the relevant information.
He criticizes the Ministry of Transportation and Translink for not meeting government standards in providing information to Treasury Board before it made the decision.
For example, the politicians were not told that ridership projections for the new line were based on the upper end of estimates.
Doyle makes a number of recommendations to improve spending decisions in the future.
He's also found the government made the right move in establishing the Evergreen line as a short-term public private partnership rather than a long term deal.
