A Vancouver School Board Trustee says kids in the district will be off for two weeks next spring break.
Mike Lombardi says all the unions involved have now agreed to a two-week break.
Lombardi says the decision is driven mainly by the district's nearly-9 million dollar shortfall.
"But every day we close a school, in Vancouver we save $100,000, so next year as we've done in the last few years, we'll be shutting the schools down for five additional days and making up the time by adding extra minutes each day."
Lombardi says a preliminary budget will be released on Tuesday, with proposals of how else to make-up the shortfall.
