Premier Christy Clark says she has accepted an invitation from Global TV for a one-on-one debate with NDP leader Adrian Dix, and she's challenging Dix to do the same.
Clark says this would be in addition to a debate April 26 on CKNW with the leaders of the four major parties.
Clark says only she or Dix are in a position to actually become Premier. The Global debate would air May 6.
Dix calls the challenge "phoney."
"I don't know if being disrespectful for democracy is a sign of leadership. I tend to think it's not. I mean, for the Premier to go out and say the Green Party leader and the Conservative Party leader should be excluded from the debate is so disrespectful to the hundreds of thousands of people who, right now, are saying they're considering voting for those parties."
