The leader of the BC NDP is promising to ban corporate and union donations for the next provincial election.
Adrian Dix announced Sunday in Yaletown the two things that are concerning him about the current state of politics in BC.
He says one is participation and the other is cynicism in politics.
Dix says he's taking steps to address this cynicism by running on a platform to ban corporate and union donations in BC.
Dix says this would boost the public's confidence in the political process.
"I meet people every day who are concerned about the relationship with the tax they pay and what they get. And I think part of that is related to the decisions governments make, part of it is related to a concern that the political process isn't about the voters, ultimately. I've got to make it about the voters. That means voters vote, voters contribute."
Dix says if elected, the reform would be in place for the 2017 election.
