Concerned parents held a day of action today because of overcrowding at their kids school.

Bob Holmes says kids at Earl Marriott Secondary School in Surrey are used to crowded hallways and gyms.

His daughter is a grade eight student there and he says the problem is getting worse every year.

“We've got way too many kids in way too small of a school is what it comes down to.  Basically what we have is a school with a capacity of 1500 and we have almost 2000 students there and it's growing every year.”

He says the Parent Advisory Council is asking other parents to contact their MLA-elect and demand the money to build a much needed bigger school in the area.

Holmes says the government has already bought the land for a new school, but they did not give money for its contruction.

He says the population in Surrey has been growing and all schools in the area are overcrowded.
